Jenas Confident Rooney will shine

Jermaine Jenas believes England have a genuine chance of winning the World Cup next summer - because of Wayne Rooney.

The Spurs midfielder, 22, says if Rooney can carry his current Manchester United form into the tournament in Germany, England could go all the way.

"Wayne is very important," Jenas told BBC Sport. "I've watched him over the past few games and he is exceptional.

"If he can carry on in this vein for the World Cup he gives us a very good chance of winning the competition."
